SUPERNATURAL LIVING
1 Corinthians 2:14 – “But the natural [unbelieving] man does not accept the things [the teachings and revelations] of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness [absurd and illogical] to him; and he is incapable of understanding them, because they are spiritually discerned and appreciated, [and he is unqualified to judge spiritual matters].”
Supernatural according to the dictionary is – being above and beyond the normal experience or knowledge of man; unexplained by natural law. While natural – are things that humans have decided is normal. Anything apart from normal; is either “abnormal” or “impossible”, because a natural mind cannot comprehend, nor believe spiritual things of God. But God’s idea of natural is an extraordinary experience one after another.
God’s wants us to experience and enjoy His spiritual blessing right here on earth (Ephesians 1:3). His desire is to manifest in our lives just as He manifested Himself through Jesus’ life. But until we move in the direction of having and living by faith, God’s desire for us cannot come to pass. Romans 1:16-17 says; “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”
Life tends to have its moments of “Ups and Downs”, “Good times and “Not so good times”, but 2 Corinthians 5:7 says; “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” It is one thing to believe God’s words and another thing to take action according to what we believe. For many believers, it’s easier to believe than to take action. Why? Because there are spiritual forces fighting against God’s word in our mind. Abraham and Jesus Christ were epitomes of lives lived by faith. They believe God and took step according to His direction. The book of Hebrews chapter 11 spoke about people that lived by faith, but Hebrews 11:6 says; “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Supernatural living is absolutely impossible without faith. Faith is like a process - a thing in which we either progress or regress, with every passing day. This process sometimes involves ups and downs, victories and setbacks, triumphs and disappointments. But among other things; faith means pressing forward in spite of our feelings, fears and anxieties -doing what needs to be done even when our emotions are screaming at us to give-up and run.
Every Christian at a point in life, experience doubt to one degree or another. However, doubt is not unbelief. Doubt is a state of mind in suspension, between faith and unbelief. There is nothing "bad" or unusual about the struggles we're experiencing. That's because, faith is an aspect of our relationship with God - a product of our walk with Christ and the constant, gentle influence of His Indwelling Holy Spirit.
John 3:6-9 (Amp.) – “That which is born of the flesh is flesh [the physical is merely physical], and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be surprised that I have told you, ‘You must be born again [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified].’ The wind blows where it wishes and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it is coming from and where it is going; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can these things be possible?”
Just as breath is a daily necessity; likewise, Holy Spirit is a daily necessity to supernatural living. The same sort of dependence we have on breathing is how we ought to depend on the Holy Spirit. Living in the power of the Holy Spirit means letting the Spirit of God be the breath that allows us to make it through every day. Without the wind of God's spirit blowing through our lives, we are like a boat that must use its own power to pull through life. But when submit our lives to God's spirit, he fills the sails of our lives with His strength and power, and gives us grace to live the lives we are meant to live on earth. John 16:5-7, 13.
When the Holy Spirit directs our course, the natural consequence is a life outside of normal striving or fleshly effort. Relying on the assistance of the Holy Spirit, allows us to live beyond our own capacity -supernatural living.
