The Power of Your Mind
Our mind and mouth is two creative tools God has given us to create a wonderful future; but if used negatively, it can be dangerous. Most of life’s challenges originate from within us—our mind (Which controls the words that come out of our mouth.)
Our thoughts and words are so powerful that they can bring either blessings or curses into our lives, depending on their nature. That is why the word of God instructed us to “…Be transform by the renewing of your mind” (Rom. 12:2), because “…Out of it springs the issues of life” (Provb. 4:23). Our thoughts and words are like the rudder of a ship—they may seem small, but they affect the very direction of our lives.
Be Careful of What You Think
Proverbs 15:13 says, “A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.”
We are all product of our past, but we don’t have to be a prisoner of it. Due to life’s challenges and disappointments, we're constantly tempted to think wrong and negative thoughts, but we don’t have to accept it. Thoughts, either positive or negative, are like seeds; if we nourish them with attention, interest and enthusiasm, they have a natural tendency to grow and yield fruits in our life. Keeping our expectations low is not a guarantee against disappointment; neither will being cynical and negative bring positive result
Our mind is one of the strongest and most creative powers we possess, because it controls our thoughts. Thoughts are like a video that plays on the screen of our mind. Our predominant thoughts influence our behavior and attitude and control our actions and reactions. .
Getting Rid of Negative Thinking Isn't Enough
Joshua 1:8 says “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
Cutting out the negative isn't enough; we need to purposely choose positive thinking and speaking. Positive thinking is a mental and emotional attitude that focuses on the bright side of life and expects positive results. We need to discipline ourselves to be more positive—it's not so easy, but we can do it!
We’ve got to replace all the negative thought with God’s word and believing is the first step to switching our thinking from being negative to positive. You cannot have confidence in what you don’t believe, and what you don’t have confidence in, you cannot confess. It’s a fact that we all go through challenges at one point in life, but the truth is that God promised to give us a wonderful ending and be with us every step of the way.
Speak Positive Words, Reap a Better Life
Proverbs 18:21 says, Death and life are in the power of the tongue…. We must choose life generating thoughts. When we do, positive, powerful, life-giving words will naturally follow.
Trying to control our negative words without first dealing with our thoughts is like pulling off the top of a weed. Unless the root is dug up, the weed always comes back. You'll never control your mouth unless you first learn to control your mind.
Remember, what's in our hearts and minds will come out of our mouths. If our soul (mind, will and emotions) is full of negative things, we'll find those things coming our way. On the other hand, when we hear, read, think and talk about God, the Truth and more positive things, we'll find that those good things will come our way. We can either be cynical and negative; or be hopeful and positive, the choice is ours!
