Walking In The Spirit

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God”. Romans 8:14

Do you desire continuous acceleration and progress in the journey of life? Do you want 2019 to be better than 2018 in every aspect? Friends and family can only advise and guide us base on the level of their knowledge and understanding, but the Holy Spirit is the only person capable of leading you to great success and accomplishment in life. Walking in the spirit is walking in the power and strength of the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit is allowed to lead; your life will be free of frustration and fear because He is the voice of God to man. To walk in the spirit, there are some basic things you’ve got to know and understand.

• Be in a Relationship with the Holy Spirit

And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:3-4

In order to live a spirit led live, we need to have personal relationship with the spirit of God - the Holy Spirit. An infant that is still breast feeding always longs for that one on one moment with the mother, not just because of the food but because he also gets to play with her, to touch her face, pull her lips, listen and gets to know her voice in order to be able to differentiate her voice from others, speaks to her through sounds that can only be understand by her, get strength through the feeding, and also get reprove when he bites the mother. This is how deep our relationship with the Holy Spirit supposed to be in our day to day living. John 16:13 says, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.” We know and have personal relationship with the Holy Spirit through the word of God.

• Mind the things of the Spirit

Above all else, guard your heart (mind), for everything you do flows from it. Proverbs 4:23 NIV.

Our life is like a mirror that reflects what is going on in our mind and how our mind operates, because out of the abundance of our heart the mouth and reactions speaks. Proverbs 27:19 (NIV) says “As water reflects the face, so one’s life reflects the heart”. In order to live a Spirit filled life everyday (not only in church); we need to renew our minds on a daily basis. Renewing our minds is like formatting our minds. In technology world, formatting a hard drive cleans away all the existing files and makes it available to store new files. We need to format our mind of all negative believes, perceptions and thinking through God’s word. The Holy Spirit enlightens our mind through God’s word. The power of God’s words gives us the strength to overcome the operation of self on a daily basis. Ephesians 3:14-16 says, “For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man.” This strength is not the strength to do or accomplish something, but the power to overcome your mind and body, because we need to see, think and believe things God’s way.

• Listen and Follow the leading of the Spirit

“Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.” 1 John 2:3-6

God is light. Therefore, to engage in fellowship with Him we must walk in light and not in darkness. According to Psalm 23, when we allow the Holy Spirit to be the Sheppard of our life, He will direct our path and we will walk in the way and will of God for our lives. Walking in the will of God is walking in light and walking in light is walking in love because God is LOVE. We may have the zeal to do the will of God, but the zeal that is void of right counsel and guidance leads to frustration. We will not be frustrated in Life in Jesus name.
