Long Life Is My Portion

“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high…With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16

This month has being declared as our covenant month of Longevity Explosion. Longevity is our covenant right. God spoke to Abraham in Genesis 15:15 saying, “Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age.” We are connected to Abraham through the death of Jesus Christ. We are redeemed not only for heaven, but to be partakers of Abraham’s promises as well (Galatians 3:13-14). Redemption qualifies us for long life in Christ Jesus.

“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows)”. John 10:10

Choose Life: Salvation is not only about deliverance from eternal death, but about everything that Christ died and paid for with His blood (i.e. Life abundantly). This is God’s PROMISE to you. And it will come to pass IF you CHOOSE to accept it. That’s right, long life is a choice. If you want long life, you must CHOOSE LIFE! Deuteronomy 30:19-20.

The Truth about long life is not relative nor does it function based on public opinion. God’s word should not be interpreted through circumstances surrounding a person. Because your family history shows that people died young at a certain age due to a particular sickness, does not mean you have to die young. The truth is-Jesus paid the price for our healing and died young that we might have life and have it more abundantly. If death threatens you, call unto Jesus. Psalm 91:15

Believe that Long Life Is Your Portion: People’s perspective about long life varies one from another. What you believe is vital in determining what will become of you. In Genesis 25:7-8, we are told that Abraham died at the age of 175 years, in good old age and full of years. Moses discovered that man could live for 120 years and his eyes were not dim or his natural strength diminishes. He saw the word and believed it. It is possible to be productive, to look and feel good at an old age. If God proved it in Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, then we can also live that long. In Psalm 90:10, King David believed man was given 70 years to live and he died at that age. This solidifies the fact that you become what you believe. So, believe that long life is your portion.

“Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Hebrews 2:14-15

Get Rid of Fear: There is one fear common to man-the fear of death, and the devil knows this because he rules with fear and death. Death is no longer our enemy, because Jesus Christ overcame death and its terror. To be fearful is a norm to those who do not depend on God’s love for provision and protection. Fear of death is what gives access to the devil to torment our lives, as seen in Job 3:25. What Job was afraid of is exactly what happened to him, despite the fact that he was a man of integrity, who feared God and turned away from evil. To live a long life, you’ve got to get rid of the fear of dying young.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:21

Speak Life: If you want to live long, carefully guard your tongue in order to prevent it from speaking evil. Psalm 81:10 teaches that the words we speak are seeds; hence death should not be part of our vocabulary. Not speaking the truth of the word of God is a short cut to registering for everything contrary to the truth. Only those who talk of long life enjoy long life, because the power and authority to live a long life is in your confession.
