Give Thanks!

“Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name”. Hebrews 13:15

On Thursday November 24th; all across America, many families will gather around the dinner table to celebrate. A day the nation has set apart to appreciate and celebrate the goodness and faithfulness of our great God.

  • Gratitude is not just seasonal, it is a continual affair.

"I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.” Psalm 34:1

As wonderful as the Thanksgiving celebration is, we need to understand that true thanksgiving is not just a seasonal thing. It is a continual affair. God loves it when we dedicate a whole day to give Him thanks. But what He appreciates even more is when we make up our mind to give Him thanks all year round, in all circumstances of life. God’s will for us is that we “rejoice always…in everything giving thanks.”

  • God’s Will for us it that we rejoice always…giving thanks in everything.

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. Habakkuk 3:17-18

We must not just thank Him when we get a raise, when He meets our need or gives us our desired breakthrough. We must give Him thanks in good and bad times. In everything give Him thanks. Don’t let trying times steal thanksgiving from our lips. Our God will not fail us. No matter how difficult the circumstance, He will always come through with great power and victory.

  • Gratitude is not a tool with which to fool the Mind; it is a tool that opens the Mind. And there is always something to be grateful for.

Every day, make a list of the things that you are thankful for. Celebrate every single favor or grace that you enjoy from the Lord with great excitement and joy. Do not take anything for granted. That’s the secret of greatness! Psalms 103:1-5.

Gratitude is the way of winners. It is the force that promotes and keeps you advancing in life. Ingratitude, on the other hand, will bring anyone down. God is the Giver of every good and perfect gift that we have. We must not take any of His gifts for granted, nor wait for “spectacular” miracles or blessings to occur before we thank and adore Him. Give Him thanks for all His gifts. Think of God’s goodness-where He brought you from and where you are now. Count your blessings, name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
