Praise: A Spiritual Force

“It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; to declare Your loving-kindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night.” Psalm 92:1-2

Praising God is not an option; it is your highest calling. Psalm 150:6 states it clearly; “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.” Every living, breathing being must praise the Lord. Praising God is totally different from thanking God. Thanksgiving is being appreciative for what God has done for us, while praise is the expression of our love to God for who He is-Our Heavenly Father. We praise God for who He is, not for what He has done. Praise is the appreciation of God’s nature and qualities. He is GOD; the creator of heaven and earth, Alpha and Omega, the faithful one, the Unchanging Changer.

It is interesting to note that not only does your praise bless and honor God, it also benefits you! Praise is a spiritual force that has a powerful effect on the believer, the devil, and God. It touches everything and every part of your life. Likewise, a lack of praise affects you in a negative way, turns the devil loose in your life, and doesn’t bless God. When you embrace the attitude of praise, you have everything to gain and absolutely nothing to lose. Here are just some of the wonderful things that will happen as you begin to praise God with all of your heart.

The Effect of Praise on you as a Believer

  • Praise set you free from being self-centered and prideful. Pride gives you reasons not to praise God. Pride makes you believe God is not Who He says He is, therefore He is not worthy of praise. Ps 59:16-17, Phil 4:4

  • Praise helps you get your attention on God and off your problem. It catapults you into the spiritual realm to see what God has done for you. 2 Cor. 4:17-18

  • Praise commits you to obey Phil. 4:4, Heb. 13:15

  • God judge everything that mocks you when you praise Him. 2 Sam. 6:14-23

The Effect of Praise on the devil

  • Praise makes the devil flee. 1 Sam. 16:23

  • Praise confuses the devil. 2 Chr. 20:23

  • Praise disarms the devil. Acts 16:25-26

The Effect of Praise on God

  • God dwells in praises. Ps. 22:3

  • God does fearful things in praises. Ex. 15:11

  • Praise moves God to step into any situation. 2 Chr. 20:21-22
