Who You Are In Christ
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. 1 Peter 2: 9-10
To live your life as God intended, you need to know who you are in Christ Jesus. The more you know and agree with God about your identity in Christ, the more your character will reflect your God given identity. Your identity in Christ doesn’t depend on people’s opinion about you or what you have done. Your true identity in Christ is who God says you are. “Who Are You in Christ?”
You are a new creature.
2 Corinthians 5:17; “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” In Christ, you are renewed and free from condemnation. You are no longer slave to sin. You now have the choice to “let sin reign” or to count yourself “dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus” (Romans 6:11-12). You are empowered through Christ for righteousness. You have a right standing before God at all times.
You are a spirit being.
In Christ, you are a regenerated spirit. You are spiritually minded, walking according to the Spirit, not according to the flesh. You’ve been restored back to the position of dominion power that man lost through Adam. As a spirit being, you have the capacity to worship God in spirit and truth. Because it takes a man of the Spirit to connect with the God who is Spirit (John 4: 23-24)!
You are a god here on earth
In God’s order of creation, things produce after their kind. You are created after God’s kind. Just as children have the attributes of their parents so also you have your Father’s attributes. You share in God’s divine nature and all that makes God, ‘God’ is on the inside of you. As a partaker of His power and glory, God has made you as a god to the sons of men to represent and execute His interest on the earth. Psalm 82: 6; John 10: 32-35
You are a king and a priest
God has chosen to confer upon you this comprehensive and paramount authority of being a king and a priest so that you can cover the whole domain of human life. You are ordained and empowered to reign and rule in the earth. You are destined to be above only and never beneath. No king begs in his domain. You are not a beggar. You are a lender! Wherever the soles of your feet trod, God has given you the power to reign there! Revelation 5: 10; 1: 5-6; Psalm 115: 16.
